Top Tips for a Cheap European Travel
In the past years, you can already venture into a European getaway with merely $5 in your pocket to spend for your daily provisions. Since the cost was too cheap, there were lots of sacrifices which the travelers had to endure too. Among of those worthy to mention are the need to sleep in the train stations or inside the train cars and the necessity to stay in a cheap hotel wherein the occupants of at least 12 rooms or so had to share one bath.
For sure, you can’t afford to make these sacrifices! With the life’s comfort we have, it is nearly impossible that you can go back to the practices of the days of yore. At any rate, you must not be discouraged especially if you are really resigned to the prospect of getting into the boundaries of Europe. There are innumerable countries to visit, so to speak and the good news is that you can grab a cheap European travel package for your most awaited vacation!
Here are some of the top tips that will guide you through your efforts of finding the means to travel Europe cheaply. You can always save money, you know. So, read on!
Avoid the peak season. If you don’t want to spend more money on hotel, airfare, food and local transportation then go to Europe when others don’t. European countries websites can give you ideas on the best dates to avoid the crown and save money at the same time.
Try the Open Jaw Ticket. If you intend to visit more places in the continent, you can devise a plan: purchase the Open Jaw Ticket. It means that you will schedule your trip that is bound for a single direction. For instance, you will land in London and then you will depart from another country.
Go to the countries which require cheaper expenses. Western Europe hosts the nations which do not require you to shell out a fortune from your pockets. You can include Greece and Portugal in your itineraries. These places have so much to offer to you.
Be wise with the choice of transportation. You can access the sites in the European destinations either by bus, train, plane, and hired cars. Whichever will allow you to save money must be your choice. Take for instance the case of Spain. The price of gasoline per liter is approximately 80 Euro cents.
If you will prefer car rental, be sure to check the cost of gasoline beforehand. Better opt for the diesel cars when you talk to the car rental agents. They will provide you with more gas mileage and a lot of savings too. Meanwhile, the rail network of Italy offers cheap ticket prices so if you intend to visit the place, you might as well go sightseeing via the trains. Tickets are available from the well-marked counter booths.
Avail of the admissions cards. Since you will most likely marvel at the museums, you have to check out the admissions cards from the tourist information stations. With these, you can get the discounted rates especially if you plan to tour several museums in your entire stay.
Be precise with your accommodation. Hotels may take advantage of the flow of people and will moreover increase their rates. You have another option, though. Apartments or rented houses will be best for group travels. Therein, you are allowed to cook so you are able to save more.
Chancing upon bargains will seemingly complete your cheap European travel. Hence, it is a must to source out your possible opportunities to maximize the pleasure of this lovely experience.

Hi there,
I’m currently working on a travel (Holiday Cottages) website who are keen to have a link on your homepage. Can you let me know what options are available for a text link and any associated costs? Kind regards. Cam
Here is another tip for getting the cheapest lodging available throughout Europe.
Usually lodging is the biggest part of the budget when travelling in Europe or anywhere else for that matter. The prices for airline tickets are continually falling making accommodation the main post in the travel budget.
There is however a possible solution to this problem called CasaSwap. It is an online platform where members can swap, sublet and rent housing amongst each other. The website covers globally and is strongly represented in European countries such as Germany, France, Italy, Spain, Greece, Denmark, Sweden, The Netherlands, Belgium just to name a few. If you want cheap housing CasaSwap i s the way to go. Of course there are alternatives to CasaSwap out there but this site works and is even supported and endorsed by the European Commission.
You can visit the site here http://www.casaswap.com
Nice post… despite its age it still holds a lot of truth. For travelling around the UK your transport costs could well match your hotel costs, so to keep your travel costs my advice would be to go off peak, pick your times and sometimes two singles can actually be cheaper than a return. Book online and investigate times after 10am. Hope this helps.
Anyone looking to travel to Ireland I would recommend avoiding Dublin. Ireland is expensive enough already but Dublin is a very expensive city. Take it from me, you’re not missing much. It’s just a city, with crime, traffic congestion and smog and tourists who go there end up blowing their budget in the first few days before managing to escape the place.
You’re better off flying direct into Shannon and seeing the real Ireland, the west of Ireland; the Shannon River, Bunratty Castle, the Burren, the Cliffs of Moher, the Ring of Kerry and Connemara. This is what the tourists come for anyway, but many don’t realise that they don’t have to fly into Dublin and drive halfway across the island to get there.
Thats an extremely harsh view of Dublin. Dublin is a fantastic city well worth a visit, sure its expensive buts its a fascinating fun place
You have decided to spend up large and go on vacation. It’s costing a lot, but hey – you only live once, right? If you are new to traveling, you will want to optimize your chances of having an enjoyable time by considering other great tips for before, during, and after your travel.

Thanks for the tips, I love travelling in Europe.. Keep doing the great work bro!
Thanks again!
Either you have a big adjustment like a 20 percent or 30 percent decline, or you have a big recession or you have a slow decline in property prices or several years of no growth.\par
I love to travel and see the world, but with prices
where they are you really have to save as much as
you can when traveling.
i’ve found from my experience that booking late night or overnight trains could cut a lot of costs as well. the tickets tend to be cheaper and for that night in transit you don’t have to worry about accomodation. in many cases i slept better on the trains than i did in some of the hostels. another tip is to make a stop at supermarkets orfind a street market at every town to stock up on fruits, bread cheese etc. you can save so much money making your own breakfast and lunch, then you can actually afford to hit a nice restaurant or two for dinner during your trip
Thanks this is a nice post.Airfare is usually the biggest single expense of any international trip. Finding cheap tickets leads to significant savings in the total cost of travel
True, finding the least expensive type of international airfare may be your most cost savings initiative. To my surprise when I was looking up different types of cheap airfares I came across a rather inexpensive airport that sold very inexpensive charter jets, who knew.
Eventually .. It related to (did you enjoy in this trip?) if yes the money is not a big problem.
