Anyone looking to travel to Ireland I would recommend avoiding Dublin. Ireland is expensive enough already but Dublin is a very expensive city. Take it from me, you're not missing much. It's just a city, with crime, traffic congestion and smog and tourists who go there end up blowing their budget in the first few days before managing to escape the place.

You're better off flying direct into Shannon and seeing the real Ireland, the west of Ireland; the Shannon River, Bunratty Castle, the Burren, the Cliffs of Moher, the Ring of Kerry and Connemara. This is what the tourists come for anyway, but many don't realise that they don't have to fly into Dublin and drive halfway across the island to get there.

Nice post... despite its age it still holds a lot of truth. For travelling around the UK your transport costs could well match your hotel costs, so to keep your travel costs my advice would be to go off peak, pick your times and sometimes two singles can actually be cheaper than a return. Book online and investigate times after 10am. Hope this helps.

Here is another tip for getting the cheapest lodging available throughout Europe.

Usually lodging is the biggest part of the budget when travelling in Europe or anywhere else for that matter. The prices for airline tickets are continually falling making accommodation the main post in the travel budget.

There is however a possible solution to this problem called CasaSwap. It is an online platform where members can swap, sublet and rent housing amongst each other. The website covers globally and is strongly represented in European countries such as Germany, France, Italy, Spain, Greece, Denmark, Sweden, The Netherlands, Belgium just to name a few. If you want cheap housing CasaSwap i s the way to go. Of course there are alternatives to CasaSwap out there but this site works and is even supported and endorsed by the European Commission.

You can visit the site here www.casaswap.com

Hi there,
I'm currently working on a travel (Holiday Cottages) website who are keen to have a link on your homepage. Can you let me know what options are available for a text link and any associated costs? Kind regards. Cam
