Nice post and good advices for different tourists. The Eastern Europe, especially Slovakia are interested for me. But If you write about different places, towns and interesting villages, which would be worthy to visit, It would be fine! Thanks.

I’ve traveled to Prague a few times now and when I wasn’t staying in the hotel there, I’d go out and visit the spa areas like Karlovy Vary and Marianske Lazne. The next time I shall visit Slovakia and experience the “Slovakian experience”.

It sounds like a nice country to visit. Does anyone know if there is a train I can take from Russia there? I am living in St.Petersburg now. Maybe it is easier to fly there? The train is just a more interesting experience, especially in Russia :)

  • Nice article, thank you. Eastern Europe with its diverse historic and cultural heritage does offer great travel experience.

  • I visited Bratislava with a few friends back in February last year and had quiet an indifferent trip. We had visited Tallin in Estonia & Prague in the Czech Republic before so we knew what to expect from an Eastern European city. Unfortunately we visited just before Slovakia changed across from the Kronar to the Euro so all of the prices had been dramatically increased from what we had previously experienced on our trips to Eastern Europe. The city itself does have a certain medieval fairytale quality to it, but is not quite as impressed as the cities i mentioned above. I would not advice people to plan a specific trip to the city if its their first time to Eastern Europe, however if you are in the region its definitely worth passing through, you could even just do a day trip up the river from Vienna.

The weather seems to be on the colder side with average hottest temperatures around 20 degrees C/68 degrees F. If you visit in the summer, it would be pleasant traveling around, unlike some other European cities.

  • I heard that Slovakia is a nice place to vacation.. although I never would have thought of it myself. I’ll need to either bring a friend of mind that’s from that region or find out how much English is understood there before I look into this further.. I haven’t been many places where I wasn’t understood.. nervous about that.
