I actually found a photo of a cool pyramid as an art assignement and once I finished painting it, the entire latin population of the Long Beach City College had come to see it! Straight people usually don’t ever stop to consider how being gay affects things like travel destination choice. Unfortunately in some parts of the world homosexuality is still not commonly accepted. When you’re off on vacation you don’t want to be forced to hide who you are.
Wow, I didn’t know Chichen Itza is considered one of the new 7 wonders. Going at the Spring Equinox would be perfect because it’s already spring break time. So, I am assuming Cancun is a gay-friendly destination as well?
I have just found your blog and am busy reading all your articles, especially on Mexico. I am currently planning a trip (with a focus on ruins), so am soaking up everything that I can get! I am keen to see Chichen Itza as it has some fantastic history and is really impressive (plus I have been researching it for years!!). I was wondering though, when you say a gay hot spot, do you mean that homosexuality is accepted, or is it because it’s set up especially (with perhaps bars, clubs etc)? Thanks!
