Maine has a very rich heritage that is as colorful and vibrant as its brilliant landscape. It has a culture rooted in seafaring and a rich art tradition. Exploring this historical land can help make the past come alive.
New hotels and lodges are sprouting up in many places in this state to cater to the needs of visitors. Most of the accommodations provide the guests superior bed and breakfast hospitality, with all the comforts of home. There are 19th-century Colonial homes that have been converted to tourist resorts. This allows the ambience to be elegant and yet casual. There are many hotels that have antique grand pianos that add to the ambience. Maine is made up of scenic locations that combine the advantages of town and country.
The hotels recommend various activities, based on a guest’s individual interests. The guests are also asked to assist with restaurant suggestions and dinner reservations. The hotel assists guests with brochures, maps and directions. They also cater for common area amenities such as parlor that have freshly baked goodies, fresh fruits and snacks. They provide cable TV, VCR and CD players in the parlors. There are many board games like carom, chess, Monopoly and Scrabble available.
The majority of these visitors travel to the southern stretches of the generously ribbed coast of Maine. Maine has vast tracts of mountainous forests that have lakes and clearings making it an ideal territory for hiking and canoe rides.

Of all the US states I have never been to Maine before, along with only a few others. We made it as far north as New York, Boston, Phili, etc, but never that far north. Thanks for the recommendation it is duly noted.
