PostHeaderIcon Enjoying Ireland, The Enchanting Emerald Isle

The lush and verdant island of Ireland has long been beloved of the British and American and now it is becoming a more popular European destination for travellers from further afield as well. Part of the popularity of the location lies in the fact that its people are so hospitable and the Irish way of life so laid back and easy to get used to!

If you’re looking for a striking holiday location for all the family, where you can enjoy everything from castles to beaches and outdoor activities from hiking to mountain biking and you don’t mind so much about the weather – visit Ireland.

Many American and British families can trace their ancestry back to Irish roots and so this may spawn the idea of travel to the Emerald Isle, as it is popularly called. And if you too have Irish heritage and Irish roots you can spend many enjoyable hours plotting your family’s path across the Irish landscape. You can visit the libraries and public record offices in main towns from Clifden to Galway, Castleport to Dublin and trace your family tree.

PostHeaderIcon Ethical Travel – You Can Help While Seeing the World

In 2008, my husband Dave and I embarked on a 12,000 km cycling journey through Africa. We had been avid adventure travelers in the past, but this time we wanted to make a difference while seeing the world.

For this journey, we chose to ride for a cause. There are many charities that travelers can help to raise awareness for. Established organizations have the resources to reach millions of people, and your help in raising funds can make a huge difference on entire communities.

It is extremely easy for a person to contribute effectively to these causes. All it takes is a little extra legwork before leaving home.

Before we left for Africa, we designed a website giving an overview of our cause containing a “donate now” icon. We hired a publicist and found some television and newspaper coverage. We developed a strong following of people before we even left the country. We held fundraisers and friends were eager to give to Plan because for one thing, they were supporting us. Their friends were taking on an enormous task and it was a unique idea that actually made people want to come out and give.

PostHeaderIcon Choosing a Bed and Breakfast in Galway City, Ireland

Visitors to the western coast of Ireland usually spend a few days in Galway City. It is known as a cultural city; in fact it is nicknamed “Ireland’s Cultural Heart” for the many special events, celebrations and festivals that take place each year. The city is continually ranked among the top destinations in Ireland as well as throughout Europe – a 2008 poll placed it ahead of many of the most popular cities, including Venice and Edinburgh.

Many people who come for a stay will choose a bed and breakfast in Galway City, Ireland. They do this because Irish bed and breakfasts are renowned for their hospitality and home style charm. Even a bed and breakfast accommodation in the city provides a warm welcome from the owners. A bed and breakfast in Galway City will likely be owned and operated by the owners of the property, who will also live on the premises. This means that unlike a stay at a hotel, where service ends at the front desk, a visitor to a bed and breakfast in Galway City Ireland will not be treated only like a “customer”, but will be treated instead just like a guest.
