Save Time Making Travel Plans Using the Internet
Guest post from: Steve Delaney
While I know I don’t look old enough, I can remember making travel plans before the Internet was ubiquitous. My life is much easier now!
Back in the day, I can remember calling the airlines or a travel agent to book an airline ticket, or to make a change in itinerary. I could be on hold for hours, first waiting for an answer, then waiting as the representative searched through available flight options. The same for renting a car or booking a hotel room.
Some companies where I worked even employed full-time, in-house travel agents to book flights and rooms for employees. While I wasn’t the one on ‘hold’ anymore, it was still inefficient.
With my clear tv bundle, I enthusiastically appreciate today’s online travel sites and options.
Nearly every airline around the world today has a website, and through most of them you can buy a ticket with 24 hour advance planning. You can also check on flight schedules and track frequent flyer miles. All ‘self serve’ and all online. The same for hotels and car rentals. There are also websites that consolidate your flight, hotel and car rental reservations all at one location, often with impressive combined cost savings.
I’ve saved weeks of ‘hold’ time, I estimate. The ability to make travel arrangements using the Internet has certainly made my life easier.

That is one gut-wrenching story.I am quite surprised with your nice article.
The first time that I travelled to Australia in 1986 there were only the Lonely Planet books, which was great but now I can only imagine what kind of info you could get while on the road with a netbook and some free wifi.
over the last few days i have been looking for some nice tips on travel time saving and this is simply the most comprehensive of all my findings. great work!

Internet has also its advantages, like this. Yes, it’s very true to anyone that internet makes problems easier to deal with. Everything is possible with the high technology we have now.
The traveling through internet saves a lot of time. The traveling through Fly Emirates is always a luxury because of their exceptional exhibition of their qualities through their websites.
I’m totally agree with your that everyone could save time making travel plans using the Internet. I personally do it and it’s so great when you can plan almost everything from tickets, hotels to tickets to museums, sightseeing, maps. Yes, it makes life easier, much easier!
Thanks
It is interesting
Dear author, I do agree that you send much time making reservations by Internet. However, it is quite often when travel agencies have better prices to offer fot the tour or flight. You don’t have to do millions os steps to get to the booking you want to make. You just pick up the phone and tell where you want to go. I think in this way you save much more time especially if you are not 100% sure what country you want to visit or which airline has the necessary flight.
So, it depens on the situation which way is more useful for us!
