Travel Tips and the Security Check Point
Since the increased fear of terrorism, these checkpoints have changed the rules so many times. There are items that are prohibited onboard the aircraft and are continuingly being added as necessary. Water, for example, cannot pass the security checkpoint. You also have to put all medication, baby liquid formulas and toothpaste along with other liquid items in a clear zip lock bag so that it can be easily identifiable, before you board the aircraft.
Individuals who are traveling need to also know that their checked baggage do also go through a screening process behind the scenes. It all depends on each airport TSA personnel. Preparing before your travel trip and before you get to the airport is the wisest thing to do. It will afford you convenience, a faster process and an understanding of what you are required to do.
If you are flying, especially on a flight that is not non-stop, you might want to consider dressing more comfortably. You will be asked to take your shoes off. Wearing a slipper or sandal instead of tennis shoes will give you more flexibility and a smoother process. You don’t have to sit down and pull shoelaces and then have to put them back on. You can just slip your feet out of your sandal or slipper and slip them back in again. For religious purposes, you are allowed to wear your scarf or special religious clothing. However, if your religion causes you to wear large clothing where items can be hidden from view, the transportation security officer is well within his or her rights to ask you for additional screening.
Be aware that you may be asked to take off anything that has metal such a belt, earrings or any type of metal jewelry. Therefore, before going on your travel, be sure to remove all jewelry and at the airport remove your belt before you are scanned through the security system.
Take out your laptop from the laptop bags and put in a separate bin. This is a mandatory rule. Even digital cameras that are in cases have to be taken out of the case to be scanned separately. You will be asked to take off any jackets and coats and place in the bin. Your cell phone has to be place in the bin as well.
Every adult who is traveling should take out his or her photo ID and travel boarding pass to be inspected at the security checkpoint. If you don’t show a photo ID and other documentation requested, you might have to undergo additional screening.
One of the keys to getting through the process is to follow the guidelines and be prepared for the little nuances that may result on your trip to your next destination.
